Baby Room Ideas

I've got some pretty serious nursery fever. I have been slowly trying to organize our former bedroom that will become our baby's room. Right now, the room contains a bulky red futon and my sewing table. We're hoping to take a few good photos of the futon this weekend so that we can list it on Craigslist early next week and see if we can get rid of it. Maybe we could make $40 off of it and then turn around and use that money to purchase paint? I'm not sure where I'm going to relocate my sewing table. Since I'm not sewing daily, I think I'm just going to store it in the closet and then pull it on to the kitchen table as needed (like when my mom comes to visit and helps me create something awesome).

The majority of the decorating won't happen until we find out the gender, which is only a few short weeks away! After we know if Baby Stewart is a boy or girl, I can start accenting with pillows, bedding, wall art, etc.

Here is what I'm thinking so far...

This crib is from Target. I love the simplicity of the white with the rounded edges. The panels on either side make it look kind of antique-ish, while the white color keeps it fresh and modern. Oh, and the bedding is not ours, it is just the bedding that was in the Target.com photo (our baby's bedding will be much much cuter).

I've already purchased one of these curtains from Target. I love that they have a linen like texture, but block more light than an actual linen fabric would. I purchased a spring rod, so the curtain will fit right inside of the white window molding. They let in the perfect amount of light to brighten the room and they add this billowy soft texture to the small box room.

For the walls, I'm drifting toward gray tones, because I think the white crib and curtain will be a good contrast against the gray. It will really make the window trim and baseboards look fresh and clean as well. I've been looking at paint at Do It Best Hardware store off Neil Street. I know...can you believe it!? I'm actually straying from Lowe's for a home improvement project...gasp!  It's because I really wanted to purchase a zero VOC paint for out project. I just couldn't seem to find the right color in Lowe's Olympic paint (which also has a natural zero VOC brand). Do It Best Hardware carries Natura Paint by Benjamin Moore which is safe for momma and the muffin. The color I'm considering is called Copley Gray (HC-104). It can be seen on the right of this swatch. I found this Benjamin Moore paint chip and all three of these colors are the exact colors of my house. I can't wait to purchase a sample and find out if this is the right color!

Hi Margo. I'm interested in the paint strip with Ben Moore Copley Gray. Can you tell me the other two colors on that paint strip? One appears to be a pea green & the other is off white. I see it's been a couple of years since your post but maybe you still have the color info? Thank you!
