I love Saturday mornings. I slept until 8:00 a.m. (Tyler woke up at 7:00 a.m. to study, crazy boy). Then I headed to Dunkin Donuts to get my luzsh some donut holes and a large coffee with cream and sugar. Yeah, I'm a pretty nice wife. Tyler loves his donuts. I, on the other hand, think Dunkin Donuts has some of the worst donuts ever, so I came home and made the best ham, cheese and tomato omelet ever! I got the tomatoes from the garden. They were a little sweet, so I think I may have picked them a day too soon.
The green beans and cucumbers are also growing really well. My summer squash, however, did not grow. Some critters or insects ate the base of them. The little jerks. I'm not really sure how to prevent that from happening. I mean, I don't want to use a pesticide, because wouldn't that take away from the organic-ness of the garden? I have learned a lot this year with my first garden. The square foot method is the way to go with bush beans, lettuces, tomatoes and herbs, but it's maybe not the best idea for vine plants. My cucumbers are taking over the world!
I love my little garden and all of the good-for-me veggies it produces.
